Is it a good place to be an entrepreneur in Thailand?

According to The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Thailand is the best place in the world to start as an entrepreneur. Three years in a row, has Thailand been ranked first in the 2019 version of the annual Best Countries Report co-published this week with U.S. News and World Report and BAV Group consultancy.

Is it hard to be an entrepreneur in Thailand?

Thailand is the second-largest economy in Southeast Asia after Indonesia, thats why the World Bank recognizes Thaniland as “one of the great development success stories”. 

Starting an entrepreneurship here can be daunting but very lucurative and enjoyable

There is no general prohibition against foreigners carrying out entrepreneurship in Thailand. However, foreigners cannot engage in the following:

 

  1. Newspaper publishing, radio or television broadcasting
  2. Rice farming, arable farming or orchard farming
  3. Rearing livestock
  4. Forestry and the processing of wood from forests (naturally grown)
  5. Fishery, only in relation to marine life in Thai waters and the specific economic zone
  6. Extraction of Thai medicinal herbs
  7. Trading and auctioning of Thai antiques or antiques which are of historical value to the country
  8. Manufacture or casting of Buddha images and alms bowls
  9. Trading in land
